How to Build a Skincare Routine with Droplette

Building a skincare routine can be overwhelming, especially with so many products on the market. However, having a good skincare routine is crucial for keeping your skin healthy, nourished and looking its best. In this blog, we will guide you through the steps of creating a personalized skincare routine that caters to your specific skin type and concerns.. With a little time and effort, you will be on your way to achieving your skincare goals.

Determine Your Skin Type

Before you buy any products, identifying your skin type is the first step in creating a personalized skincare routine. Understanding your skin type will help you select the products that will work best for you and avoid those that could potentially harm your skin.

There are five main skin types: oily, dry, combination, sensitive, and normal. To determine your skin type, follow these steps:

1. Cleanse your face thoroughly:

Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry. Wait for about an hour before continuing to the next step.

2. Assess your skin:

Look at your skin in a well-lit area and examine the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) and the cheek area.

3. Check for oiliness:

Touch your T-zone and see if it feels greasy or oily to the touch.

4. Check for dryness:

Run your fingers over your cheek area and see if it feels tight or flaky.

Skin Types

Based on the results of the above steps, you can determine your skin type:

Oily skin:

If your T-zone is oily and you have visible pores, you have oily skin.

Dry skin:

If your skin feels tight and flaky, especially in the cheek area, you have dry skin.

Combination skin:

If your T-zone is oily but your cheek area is dry, you have combination skin.

Sensitive skin:

If your skin is easily irritated or prone to redness, you have sensitive skin.

Normal skin:

If your skin is neither oily nor dry and is not easily irritated, you have normal skin.

Keep in mind that your skin type can change over time due to hormonal changes, environmental factors, and aging, so it's a good idea to re-evaluate your skin type regularly. With this information in hand, you can tailor your skincare routine to meet your specific needs and achieve healthy, glowing skin.

Steps to Build any Skincare Routine

It’s important that the products you choose are specific to your skin type and address the specific concerns you’re aiming to address. So make sure you’re keeping that in mind as you start looking at products to get. An effective skincare routine typically consists of the following steps:

Step 1: Cleanse

Choose a cleanser that is suitable for your skin type. Cream, gel, and oil cleansers all work well to remove dirt, oil, makeup, and any other impurities from your skin.

Step 2: Exfoliate

Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and improve skin texture. It's recommended to exfoliate once or twice a week, depending on your skin type and sensitivity. Our Glycolic Acid and Tranexamic Acid are great chemical exfoliators that can be used for this step.

Step 3: Treat with a Serum

This step involves using a treatment product, such as a serum or spot treatment, to target specific skin concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, or acne. The Droplette face serum capsules are designed to tackle each of these concerns: anti-aging (Collagen, Retinol, or Growth Factors), blemishes (Glycolic), and hyperpigmentation (Tranexamic Acid). As a Droplette user, we provide free esthetician consultations that you can book through our connected app to design a regimen that’s perfect for your skin type.

Step 4 (Optional but recommended): Moisturize

Complete your routine with an occlusive moisturizer (a thick formula that helps lock in hydration and prevent moisture loss). Our collagen serum capsules are a great option for this step as it helps to hydrate and firm the skin.

Bonus Step: Use SPF Protection

The final step to any AM routine is to apply sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. It's important to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 every day. There are many moisturizer products that have SPF in them so you can combine this with step 4.

How Droplette Fits Into Your Skincare Routine

One of the most critical steps of a skincare routine is the treatment step because that is where you’re applying ingredients that are designed to tackle skin concerns as opposed to cleaning and protecting the skin. We typically want a skincare routine to address certain concerns so this is the step you want to be most effective. Droplette is a micro infusion device that transforms serums into micro mist particles that allow ingredients to get 20 times deeper than topical formulations where the results can be up to 90% more effective. Our treatment serums are made with clinical strength ingredients that are dermatologist approved.
